Says up to 18-inch calf
I missed the part that stated the large is for up to a 18-inch calf (paraphrased). My calves are 19 inches, which means they roll down after an hour. I bought them for a plane ride which hasn't happened yet. But I've been wearing them around the house.
Just below the kneeon my leg is 18 inches. This sock pinches that area and leaves a welt. Measure below your knee to ensure your area is less than 17 inches for better comfort.
My shoe size is a womens 8. The foot area fits perfectly. This sock is the only compression sock that doesn't pinch my toes. I may buy again for this reason alone.
They are somewhat scratchy, so I wear them inside out. I don't like the colors and patterns, and prefer to wear beige or blank.
